DHAKA – 04 October 2018 – The Second Workshop on Rural Financial Inclusion, organised by Bank Asia Limited and World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI), had gathered more than 50 banking professionals and industry practitioners across Asia for a three-day event in Dhaka to explore the real-world challenges facing rural finance and how to effectively address them through technology and best-practices.
As a follow up of The First Workshop on Rural Financial Inclusion, the workshops featured in this event were focused on utilising agent banking and alternative delivery channels to improve outreach and leveraging on big data to design better products and services for the customers.
Debbie Watkins, Managing Director of Fern Software APMEA, was one of the selected presenters, and conducted her workshop titled ‘Customer Centricity: Design, Pricing and Marketing of Microfinance Products’ where participants got involved in a series of hands-on activities and learned how to to see through the eyes of the customer to design financial products that are relevant and useful.
The three-day event concluded with a field visit to Bank Asia’s agent outlets in the rural areas where participants had the opportunity to witness agent banking in practice and improve their understanding of rural finance.
